The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, visited the White House and was shown videos evidencing the killing of White farmers in his country. The South African President rejected the evidence shown to him by Mr. Trump, said he did not know about the killings or the violent calls for the deaths of White farmers in his country, and he questioned the legitimacy of the evidence.

Shorter Video:

Mr. Trump’s Administration has allowed the resettlement of “Afrikaner refugees escaping government-sponsored race-based discrimination, including racially discriminatory property confiscation” in South Africa.

About 60 White South African refugees arrived in the United States last week. It was the first group granted entry under Mr. Trump’s asylum program for White South Africans to take refuge in the United States.

Longer video:

South Africa’s international politics have turned recently. South Africa has gone to the International Court of Justice to accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza against the Palestinian population. While at the White House, South Africa presents a vision of decorum and friendly discussion of international concerns, on the ground in South Africa the country is experiencing horrific murders on an almost constant frequency.

South Africa’s President tried to justify the murders by telling Mr. Trump that, “People who do get killed through criminal activity are not only White People,” but that Black people are being killed as well. President Trump said of the murderers, “When they kill the White farmers nothing happens to them.”

Responding to President Ramaphosa’s denials and statements of ignorance about the killings of White South African farmers and the theft of their farmlands, Mr. Trump told Ramaphosa that, “We have thousands of [news] stories talking about it.” Mr. Trump showed the South African President several videos of South African officials actively calling for the deaths of White farmers, and Mr. Trump handed Ramaphosa a stack of news stories on the subject. The videos showed organized rallies led by South African officials calling for the killing of White farmers who were “occupying land.” There was another video shown of about a thousand white crosses on a South African highway, each memorializing a White farmer who had been murdered. “This I’ve never seen,” said Ramaphosa. [Opinion: We cannot believe his statement. These killings of White South African farmers have been reported for years. For the President of South Africa to disclaim any knowledge of this genocide is not credible.] Mr. Trump read Ramaphosa the headlines of several news stories, including, “White South Africans are fleeing because of violence and racist laws.”

Mr. Trump quoted the South African “officials” in the videos as saying, “Kill the White farmer and take their land.” President Ramaphosa said, “This is not government policy. The government policy is completely against what was being said in the Parliament.”

It is evident in the videos above that President Ramaphosa did not expect to be publicly confronted about the epidemic of killing White farmers in his country and the confiscation of their farmlands. The confrontation was a bit reminiscent of the Oval Office news conference with Ukraine’s President in February.

U.S. media, which is mostly populated by left-wing journalists, did not appreciate Mr. Trump’s bringing the matter of a White genocide in South Africa to the world’s stage. The first question from the Oval Office media, after a lengthy discussion of the White farmers being killed in South Africa, was from an NBC reporter who attempted to immediately change the subject by asking about a Qatari jet being given to the U.S. as a new Air Force One. NBC News apparently views the jet being given by Qatar as a proper first question after a long discussion about White farmers being murdered. President Trump called the NBC reporter a “jerk.” But he was not alone: Axios headlined its story, “Trump ambushes South Africa’s president with video footage in Oval Office”; Time headlined its story, “Trump Pushes False ‘White Genocide’ Claims in Tense Meeting With South African Leaders”; CNN headlined its story, “How the White House orchestrated Trump’s Oval Office ambush of South African president.”
