Putin Prayed for Trump When He Was Shot at Butler, PA, Rally.
Following the attempted assassination last June, Putin went to his local church, met with his priest, and prayed for Trump.
When Russian President Vladimir Putin learned that former President and then-presidential candidate Donald Trump had been shot at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last July, Putin went to church to pray for Trump.
Presidential emissary Steve Witkoff, who had recently visited with Putin to discuss a cease-fire in the Ukrainian War, was interviewed by Tucker Carlson.
Witkoff, who had completed his second trip to Moscow to negotiate the terms of a ceasefire, told Tucker Carlson that on his second meeting with Putin, the Russian president spoke of hearing of the assassination attempt on Trump.
Witkoff said Putin told him that, “When the president was shot, he went to his local church and met with his priest and prayed for the president.”
“He told me a story, Tucker, about how when the president [Trump] was injured, he went to his local church, met with his priest and prayed for the president, not because he would become president of the United States, but because he had a friendship with him and he was praying for his friend.”
Witkoff told Carlson that Putin “had a friendship with him and he was praying for his friend.” When Witkoff got back to Washington, DC, he relayed this story to Trump, who he said was “clearly touched.”
Witkoff also said that Putin had commissioned a “beautiful portrait” of Trump by a top Russian artist, which he asked Witkoff to present to Trump on his return.
“It was such a gracious moment, and [he] told me his story…about how when the president was shot, he went to his local church and met with his priest and prayed for the president.”
“President Putin had commissioned a beautiful portrait of President Trump, from the leading Russian artist, and actually gave it to me and asked me to take it home to President Trump.”
“Not because he was the president of the United, he could become the president of the United States, but because he had a friendship with him, and he was praying for his friend.”
Putin told Witkoff that for 3½ of the 4 years of the Biden Administration there had been no contact between Biden and Putin.
People’s Artist of Russia and Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Nikas Safronov, was asked to comment on the value of Putin’s gift to Trump, and Safronov said that such work “is most likely priceless.” At the time of publication of this article, AmericanVantagePoint.com does not know the name of the actual artist nor have we seen a copy of the portrait.
After Putin and Trump spoke by phone for about two hours to discuss a case-fire in the Ukraine War, Mr. Trump described the conversation as “very good and productive.”
