All Federal Government DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Offices are Closed and all DEI Personnel are Suspended.
No more “X” gender on passports; Restrooms are for “males” or “females”; transitioned military members will likely be discharged.
Immediately following his Inauguration as President on January 20th, President Trump signed a great many Executive Orders dismantling objectionable Orders made by his predecessor. One of the new Executive Orders made clear that, under Trump, “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female. These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”
Read the Executive Order: “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.”
The State Department then removed the option to select “X” as a gender on passport applications for self-described “nonbinary” applicants. It also replaced the word “gender” from the descriptor with the word “sex.” Previously issued passports with an “X” for gender will remain valid, but upon reissue they will specify either Male or Female based on biological sex at birth.
The Order requires that all federal agencies recognize that “Women Are Biologically Distinct From Men.” The Order, ending all federal recognition of “transgendered” individuals, continues, “Agencies shall remove all statements, policies, regulations, forms, communications, or other internal and external messages that promote or otherwise inculcate gender ideology, and shall cease issuing such statements, policies, regulations, forms, communications or other messages. Agency forms that require an individual’s sex shall list male or female, and shall not request gender identity. Agencies shall take all necessary steps, as permitted by law, to end the Federal funding of gender ideology.”
It directs the Attorney General to “issue guidance and assist agencies in protecting sex-based distinctions, which are explicitly permitted under Constitutional and statutory precedent,” and provides that “federal funds shall not be used to promote gender ideology.” It further orders “that males are not detained in women’s prisons or housed in women’s detention centers.”
Immediately, federal webpages referring to transgendered individuals and “gender affirming care” were scrubbed from agencies’ websites.
Of course, individuals who self-describe as transgendered were up in arms, highly critical, and threatening lawsuits. Their organizations, understanding that they have lost all power, were nearly apocalyptic. We’ll let others report on these reactions.
The Order dismantles all diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) activities and requirements within the federal government and terminates all DEI programs in federal agencies, including environmental justice programs, equity related grants, equity action plans and equity initiatives.
President Trump also signed Executive Orders eliminating transgender accommodations and CRT (Critical Race Theory) training in the military and placing DEI staffers on administrative leave. His order does not immediately terminate those military members who claim to be transgendered from serving in the military, but it requires a policy be developed within 30 days that “prioritizes readiness.” Significantly, it states that the current policy is “inconsistent with the medical, surgical, and mental health constraints on individuals with gender dysphoria.” The Order asserts that,
“expressing a false ‘gender identity’ divergent from an individual’s sex cannot satisfy the rigorous standards necessary for military service. Beyond the hormonal and surgical medical interventions involved, adoption of a gender identity inconsistent with an individual’s sex conflicts with a soldier’s commitment to an honorable, truthful, and disciplined lifestyle, even in one’s personal life. A man’s assertion that he is a woman, and his requirement that others honor this falsehood, is not consistent with the humility and selflessness required of a service member.”
It is generally estimated (not our estimate, we have no estimate) that there are approximately 15,500 persons self-identifying as transgendered in the U.S. Military. In 2017, Trump barred openly-transgendered individuals from serving in the military. In 2021, Biden welcomed the transgendered (and those who wished to become medically transgendered) into the military, with an Executive Order that removed gender identify as a bar to service. Trump has now effectively reinstated his former Order. The Order also reverses the Biden administration’s policy of allowing transitioning service members to continue to receive coverage for transition-related medical procedures and bars military personnel from sharing bathrooms, bedrooms, and changing areas with members of the opposite sex.

President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order overturning President Lyndon Johnson’s 1965 Executive Order that created race-based hiring requirements for federal contractors.
“Yet today, roughly 60 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, critical and influential institutions of American society, including the Federal Government, major corporations, financial institutions, the medical industry, large commercial airlines, law enforcement agencies, and institutions of higher education have adopted and actively use dangerous, demeaning, and immoral race- and sex-based preferences under the guise of so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) or “diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility” (DEIA) that can violate the civil-rights laws of this Nation.
Illegal DEI and DEIA policies not only violate the text and spirit of our longstanding Federal civil-rights laws, they also undermine our national unity, as they deny, discredit, and undermine the traditional American values of hard work, excellence, and individual achievement in favor of an unlawful, corrosive, and pernicious identity-based spoils system. Hardworking Americans who deserve a shot at the American Dream should not be stigmatized, demeaned, or shut out of opportunities because of their race or sex.”
President Trump made clear that the purpose of his Executive Order was to ensure an end to “illegal preferences and discrimination.” He made clear that private-sector DEI preferences are illegal:
“It is the policy of the United States to protect the civil rights of all Americans and to promote individual initiative, excellence, and hard work. I therefore order all executive departments and agencies (agencies) to terminate all discriminatory and illegal preferences, mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, and requirements. I further order all agencies to enforce our longstanding civil-rights laws and to combat illegal private-sector DEI preferences, mandates, policies, programs, and activities.”
Read the Executive Order: “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity.”
In yet another Executive Order, the President made clear that,
“The Biden Administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs, going by the name “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI), into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military. This was a concerted effort stemming from President Biden’s first day in office, when he issued Executive Order 13985, “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.”
Pursuant to Executive Order 13985 and follow-on orders, nearly every Federal agency and entity submitted “Equity Action Plans” to detail the ways that they have furthered DEIs infiltration of the Federal Government. The public release of these plans demonstrated immense public waste and shameful discrimination. That ends today. Americans deserve a government committed to serving every person with equal dignity and respect, and to expending precious taxpayer resources only on making America great.”

Then came a memo from the Office of Personnel Management ordering agencies to “take prompt actions” to place all DEI employees on leave and to shut down all DEI programs and offices.

We also saw OPM instructions to all agency, department, or commission heads requiring them to “take action to terminate, to the maximum extent allowed by law, all DEI, DEIA, and “environmental justice” offices and positions within sixty days.”

Finally — or at least so far for now — all government agencies have been ordered to stop using pronoun identifiers in the signature blocks on all governmental letters. Specifically, the memo states that agencies must review their “email systems such as Outlook and turn off features that prompt users for their pronouns.” But it also has several other more significant requirements:
• Review all agency programs, contracts, and grants, and terminate any that promote or inculcate gender ideology.
• Review all agency position descriptions and send a notification to all employees whose position description involves inculcating or promoting gender ideology that they are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately as the agency takes steps to close/end all initiatives, offices, and programs that inculcate or promote gender ideology.
• Take down all outward facing media (websites, social media accounts, etc.) that
inculcate or promote gender ideology.
• Review agency email systems such as Outlook and turn off features that prompt users for their pronouns.
• Withdraw any final or pending documents, directives, orders, regulations, materials, forms, communications, statements, and plans that inculcate or promote gender ideology.
• Cancel any trainings that inculcate or promote gender ideology or have done so in the past.
• Disband or cancel any employee resource groups or special emphasis programs that inculcate or promote gender ideology or have done so in the past.
• Review all agency forms that require entry of an individual’s sex and ensure that all list male or female only, and not gender identity. Remove requests for “gender” and substitute requests for “sex.”
• Ensure that all applicable agency policies and documents, including forms, use the term “sex” and not “gender.”
• Ensure that intimate spaces designated for women, girls, or females (or for men, boys, or males) are designated by biological sex and not gender identity.
Just in case you tired while reading the bullet points above, we just want to point out that the last bullet point requires that federal government restrooms be designed by sex and not by an individual’s self-identified gender.

Individual agencies were quick to institute their own regulations fulfilling the requirements. For instance, at the Centers for Disease Control, a memo went out to employees stating that, “Pronouns and any other information not permitted in the policy must be removed from CDC/ATSDR employee signatures by 5.p.m. ET on Friday. … Staff are being asked to alter signature blocks by 5.pm. ET today (Friday, January 31, 2025) to follow the revised policy.”
